Denaha/ Epiphany

Denaha, meaning “dawn” or “sunrise” in Syriac, is the Orthodox Christian feast commemorating the baptism of Jesus Christ in the River Jordan by John the Baptist on January 6th. This significant event marks several profound theological moments:
Key Significance :-
Revelation of the Holy Trinity: God the Father’s voice proclaimed Jesus as His beloved Son, while the Holy Spirit descended in the form of a dove.
Public manifestation of Jesus’ divine nature and the beginning of His earthly ministry.
Sanctification of water and symbolically representing Christ’s future redemption of humanity.
Historical Context :-
In early Christianity, the nativity of Christ, visit of magi, and Lord’s baptism were initially celebrated together on January 6th. Later, Christmas was separated and set on December 25th. Western Christians call this feast Epiphany, while Eastern Christians refer to it as Theophany, both meaning “to reveal” or “manifest” the divinity of Jesus Christ.
The feast highlights Jesus’ unique baptism – though sinless, He was baptized to fulfill righteousness and publicly reveal His messianic mission.
